My Story

Playing in the mud as a kid...pardon the mullet.

I was born in Winter Park, FL on November 22nd 1982. My parents Joseph and Alesia divorced when I was 7 years old and I spent most of my childhood in the suburbs around Orlando, FL. I attended both Apopka and Poinciana High Schools.

After working several odd jobs (no, seriously) I landed my first job as a radio personality at Orlando’s Mix 105.1 in 2001. Since then I’ve worked in Miami, New Haven, Boston, Colorado Springs, Gainesville, Orlando (again) and I’m now in my second year working for CBS Radio in Cleveland, OH.

As of late March 2011 I live on the ‘Gold Coast’ of Lake Erie in Lakewood, OH with my dogs Jimmy Dean and Meg.

Family is very important to me and I try to maintain a very close relationship with my parents and siblings. My mother Alesia lives in Debary, FL. My father Joe lives near Mt. Dora, FL with his wife Becky. I have a big extended family complete with 2 step brothers named Gabriel and Joshua, 2 step sisters named Melissa and Ashleigh and a biological brother named Jason.

Playing the drums at Joy MCC in Orlando, FL.

I hate the term but it fits. I am an “out and proud” Gay Christian and I’ve worked as a worship leader, drummer, vocalist and television host for the Metropolitan Community Churches. I make my church home at Pilgrim United Church Of Christ in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland and serve on the Board of Trustees.

In the last two years I discovered a love for journalism and photography. This WordPress site is my creative outlet not only for professional pieces that I’ve written, but for my personal ramblings as well…I hope you enjoy it! – Chris

  1. I was ‘downsized’ from an office job in Feb. 09.
Blogging has been a salvation for me.
The only work I’ve found has been temporary and intermittant.

    Lesson #1.
When blogging in a small town, writing editorials about the ‘city fathers’ and city govt. will most likely prevent you from getting a job!

    • I can imagine that a well thought out blog with a following would raise some eyebrows with a small local government. Stick to your guns, someone will eventually notice you are right. Thanks for reading!
